Your Rights Under GDPR

Guide Connect respects your privacy and complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Iceland's Data Protection Act. You have the following rights over your personal data:

1. Right to Access

You can request a copy of all the data we have about you. Go to Settings → Privacy → Export Your Data to download your data in JSON or CSV format.

2. Right to Rectification

You can correct inaccurate or incomplete data by editing your profile in Settings → Profile, or by contacting us at support@guideconnect.is.

3. Right to Erasure

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data. Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Some data may be retained for legal reasons (e.g., financial records for 7 years under Icelandic tax law).

4. Right to Data Portability

You can receive your data in a common, machine-readable format (JSON or CSV) and transfer it to another platform using the data export feature.

5. Right to Restrict Processing

You can limit how we use your data while we verify accuracy or resolve a dispute. Contact legal@guideconnect.is to make this request.

6. Right to Object

You can object to certain types of data processing, especially for marketing. Unsubscribe from marketing emails in Settings → Notifications or click "Unsubscribe" in any email.

7. Right to Withdraw Consent

If we process data based on your consent (like marketing emails), you can withdraw that consent at any time in your notification settings.

8. Right to Lodge a Complaint

If you believe we've violated your data rights, you can file a complaint with Iceland's Data Protection Authority:
